šŸ§  Best Advice:

It's critical to find inspiration from existing works of art, and replicate it

Start with an existing emotion, then work backwards to figure out how to make someone feel that through your work

Vibe, mood & emotion all go into creating the feeling of a speech

People make decisions based on emotion, then rationalize with logic. To make your speech or performance persuasive.

Questions to ask yourself as you design your message:

  • What state is your audience in right now?
  • What state do you want them to be in at the end of your message?
  • When have you personally felt this emotion before?

Personal inspiration list

Keep a personal inspiration list of art forms you consume and how it made you feel

That way, you have a swipefile of things to pull from when you need someone else to feel that emotion in your work.

How to craft your Go-To story

Everyone should have a go-to story in their back pocket. Here's Robbie's framework for a solid story:

  • Adventure: what makes this story (and you) interesting?
  • Adversity: what challenge did you need to overcome?
  • Triumph: how did you overcome adversity?
  • And a sprinkle of humour

This framework will allow you to create stories that people love hearing. They also build likability between you and the audience.

You get to brag without bragging. People are entertained and they enjoy you talking about themselves.

Minimizing risk vs. maximizing reward

Choose a life where you're spending more effort maximizing reward, rather than minimizing risks. It's more fun, impactful, and less soul crushing.
